Bring Your Dream Bedroom To Life

Your bedroom should be a haven of tranquillityto curl up with a good book, film, or simply shut out the outside world. We all desire a space to call ours, not just for the pride in ownership but so that we can create it in a way that is unique and special to us.

“Not having a space you can call your own is dangerous. Everyone needs a sanctuary.”

― Marie Kondo

A dream bedroom is a true representation of one’s personality and life. If you reside in an uncomfortable environment, it may be an indication that you need to switch things up. Our vote will always be for a minimalist approach, where less is more and every piece counts. Not only is it mindful, but it is also a lower maintenance, organised way to be.

Without further ado, scroll through for tips to bring your dream bedroom to life:

Himêya is truly an invitation to Rest Better. Be Better. Live Better. Our diverse range of bedding options has something for everyone.

CLEAN COMFY BEDDING   On average, we spend approximately eight hours sleeping—which is why bedding should be soft, fun and sustainable. When it comes to styling your bed, the sky’s the limit. Don’t be afraid to mix bold colours, styles and patterns.

Our collection is primarily made up of two weaves - sateen and percale:

PERCALE - A traditional one-yarn-over and one-yarn-under weave that typically features a matte finish and crisp, cool feel that improves with every wash. Its superior durability means it won’t pill over time.

SATEEN - Smooth 100% long-staple pima cotton in a four-over-one-under weave. Soft against the skin and naturally wrinkle-resistant, it has a subtle sheen that gently reduces with each wash.

Sateen vs. percale is not a debate, but a choice. It’s a feeling that one needs to experiment with for themselves. Sleeping well is key to staying well.

    MINDFUL FURNITURE

Going green can be on a smaller scale than solar panels and water savers. Of course those are important, but every design element plays a cumulative role towards a sustainable and ergonomic environment.

The use of reclaimed wood can go a long way. It is simply wood with a past life used for a new purpose and can be used to make shelves, chairs or side tables with a signature rustic feel.

    READING NOOK

Converting a small corner into a spot to curl up in and read is a game-charger. Short of transforming your whole bedroom into a library, a reading nook is the perfect substitute. Be sure to personalise and make it your go-to happy place.

For a perfect reading nook, we recommend a plush oversized chair or cushion, a small coffee table you can get from a garage sale, a good light source and, of course, books. And no you don’t necessarily need to invest in shelves. Stacking books neatly on the ground can do the trick!

ECO FRIENDLY LIGHTING   Lighting plays a crucial role in setting your mood and circadian rhythm.

We love dimmers as you wind down towards the evening. For your dresser or ceiling lights, LED bulbs not only consume less energy but also tend to last longer. Lastly, an expansive window floods your room with natural light first thing in the morning – which is the perfect way to start your day.

HOUSE PLANTS   Any piece of nature in your bedroom can wield a sense of calm like no other. Plants purify air and a Lily or Succulent on your dresser or nightstand would look absolutely charming. Freshly cut flowers on your windowsill complete the look and feel of a room that lives and breathes good energy.
